Out sick. Hope to be back next week.
Out sick. Hope to be back next week.
SPOILERS for Mary Poppins Returns, you have been warned.
I understand taking poetic license with stories. And Mary Poppins Returns is not the same as the book Mary Poppins Opens the Door by P. L. Travers. A major difference is that the book continues the adventures of Jane and Michael Banks as children. For the movie, updating the premise worked.
But there’s one glaring change in the film that made no sense to me.

May the coming year be filled with all good things! Also, LEARN from my mistakes. Back up your files! Through a slow and torturous process with truly excellent customer support I now have my files back but my computer is throwing a temper tantrum concerning the system upgrade. I’m typing this on my phone and will be making a nice pot of vegetarian Hoppin’ John for luck—um, I mean nutrition. 🙂

Happy Holidays to all who celebrate!

About two weeks ago I woke up with pain in my eye, like an eyelash was turned in. I couldn’t find anything but rinsed it with cool water and used eye drops during the day. It seemed almost okay—except the next morning I woke up at 5:30 am with the same horrible pain.
A few trips to the eye doctor and I was on the way to healing. It’s amazing what a speck of dirt can do. Everything focused on it. To get as comfortable as possible, that meant no reading, no Internet, and no TV until I felt better.
No. Reading. I’m amazed I survived. (Being hearing impaired makes audiobooks more work than anything else.)
So things are now a lot better—and honestly? Being away from my computer made for some stress-free days. I hadn’t realized how plugged in I was until I had to stop.
But don’t ever take my books away.

To all who celebrate this week, Happy Thanksgiving! Right now I’m giving thanks that I got through getting a tooth pulled. Soft foods are my friend. 🙂
